To convert a fraction into a decimal, first write all the digits of
the numerator and then count as many digits from the right as
many zeros in the denominator and put the decimal point.
Example 2: Convert the following fractions into decimals.
325 461 65
(a) (b) (c)
10 100 1000
325 1 zero in 10
Solution: (a) = 32.5 (Here one zero is in the denominator, so
10 put point after 1 digit from the right.)
461 2 zeros in 100
(b) = 4.61
100 (There are no sufficient digits in the
numerator, so add zeros to the left side
3 zeros in 1000
65
(c) = 0.065 of the number as 65 = 065 = 0065...)
