P. 130
(d) 6 kg 500 g = 6 × 1000 g + 500 g
= 6000 g + 500 g = 6500 g
Converting Grams into Kilograms and Grams
Example 11: Convert the following into kilograms and grams.
(a) 3000 g (b) 9000 g (c) 7200 g (d) 3540 g
Solution: (a) 3000 g = 3000 ÷ 1000 kg = 3 kg ( 1000 g = 1 kg)
1
(b) 9000 g = (9000 ÷ 1000) kg = 9 kg ( 1 g = kg)
1000
(c) 7200 g = (7000 + 200) g = (7000 ÷ 1000) kg + 200 g
= 7 kg 200 g
(d) 3540 g = 3000 g + 540 g = (3000 ÷ 1000) kg + 540 g
= 3 kg 540 g
