is more useful than a globe.

An accurate map should have at least three qualities.

1. True directions between places

2. True shape of land and water bodies

3. True and accurate area

It is not possible to draw accurate maps. This is due to the fact that the curved

surface of the Earth cannot be made flat. Try to wrap a paper on a ball without

creating wrinkles. It is not possible. Thus, a map cannot be fully accurate. However,
the map showing a small area can be fairly accurate.

Types of Maps

Maps are very useful as they can be used to show a variety of information, such

as political boundaries, relief features, climatic conditions, distribution of crops,
minerals and industries, distribution of population, and many others. We can

use an atlas to study the maps on various topics.
