Bones make the framework of our body. What is the picture
of bones given below called?

OUR SKELETON

There is hard framework made up of bones inside our body. This

framework is called skeleton. The bones of the skeleton form the
skeletal system of the body. There are 206 bones in our skeleton.

Functions of Skeletal System

 Skeletal system gives shape and support to the body.
 It protects the soft organs of the body. The skull protects the

brain and the ribs protect the heart and lungs.

 It provides movement to our body parts with the help of muscles
attached to the bones.

 Long bones contain bone marrow, a soft fatty substance, which
forms the blood cells.

 Bones also store minerals like calcium and phosphorus. The skeletal
