Also, we know that in a product of two or more numbers, each number is
               a factor of the product.

                                    2 × 3 × 4 = 24

Here, 2, 3 and 4 are the factors of 24.

                                          8 × 9 = 72

Here, 8 and 9 are the factors of 72.

               Now, memorise the important points:

Z Z 1 is the smallest factor of every number.

Z Z The largest factor of a number is the number itself.

Z Z Every number except 1 has at least two factors, i.e., 1 and the number

                   itself.

Z Z The factor of a number is less than or equal to the number.

Z Z The number of factors of any number can be counted.

                                                            Multiples

In Class 4, we learnt that the multiple of a number is completely divisible

               by the number.

                2 ÷ 2 = 1 3 ÷ 2 = ? 4 ÷ 2 = 2 8 ÷ 2 = 4 and 25 ÷ 2 = ?

Here, 2, 4 and 8 are divided exactly by 2, hence 2, 4 and 8 are the multiples
of 2. But, 3 and 25 are not the multiples of 2 as they leave remainder

               after divided by 2.

In other words, the multiples are the products obtained by multiplying a

               number with other numbers.

                3 × 2 = 6 3 × 5 = 15 3 × 6 = 18 and 3 × 10 = 30

Here, 6, 15, 18, 30, etc., are the multiples of 3. There are endless counting
numbers, hence we can obtain infinite multiples of a given number.
