Example 1: Use the tally chart on the previous page and answer
the following questions.

(a) Which colour of flowers is maximum in number?

(b) Name the colour of flowers which is the least in
number.

(c) What is the total number of red, orange and yellow
flowers?

Solution: (a) Purple-coloured flower is maximum in number.

(b) Pink-coloured flower is the least in number.

(c) Red flower – 5, orange flower – 6, yellow flower – 4

Total = 5 + 6 + 4 = 15
