MATHS LAB ACTIVITY • Experiential Learning

Aim: To calculate the volume by measuring the dimensions of a cube or a cuboid

Materials: A measuring tape, a ruler, objects in the shape of a cube or a

               cuboid, paper, a pencil

               Method:

                 1. Take a cuboidal object, say a duster. Then, using

a ruler measure its length, breadth and height.

                 2. Record your readings in an observation table
                     as shown below.

                 3. Calculate its volume.

                                                             Dimensions Volume (V)
                          Objects
                                           Length (l) Breadth (b) Height (h) = l × b × h

                      1. Duster

                      2.

                      3.

                      4.

                      5.

                      ...................

                 4. Repeat the above steps taking other objects like shoebox, matchbox, chalk

                     box, etc.
