                                  The 12-hour and 24-hour Clocks

In the previous classes, we have already learnt how to read time on the

clock. A day divided into 24 hours has two periods of 12 hours. From midnight
        12 o’clock to 12 noon is called ante-meridiem (a.m.) and from 12 noon

        to midnight 12 o’clock is called post-meridiem (p.m.).

But, some organisations like railways, airlines, etc., do use the same system of

timings. They use 24-hour clock timings which express the time in four digits.
The first two digits on the left stand for hours and the last two digits for

        minutes.
