Example 10: There are 15 tablets in one strip of medicine. There
are 60 packets in a carton and each packet contains 10

strips. How many tablets are there in a carton?

Solution:  Number of tablets in 1 strip = 15

\ Number of tablets in 10 strips (i.e., 1 packet) = 15 × 10

\ Number of tablets in 60 packets = 15 × 10 × 60 = 9000

Thus, there are 9000 tablets in a carton.

Example 11: A set of a study table and a chair is

available for `1025. Find the cost of 346

such sets.

Solution: Cost of 1 set of a study table and a chair

= `1025 4 1 0 0

So, cost of 346 such sets 3 0 7 5

= `1025 × 346 = `354650
