Warm Up • Critical Thinking

Animals have such shapes and forms of bodies that suit their

surroundings. Can you guess where this animal lives?

We all know that fish live in water and sparrows live on trees. But, have you
ever thought of fish living on trees or a sparrow living under water? Can they

survive in these surroundings?
If we take the fish out of water, it will die after some time. Similarly, sparrow
will die when kept under water.

Therefore, if an animal is taken away from its habitat or there is a drastic change
in its habitat that is not suitable, the animal cannot survive. Many animals like

dinosaurs, dodo, sabre-toothed lion and sabre-toothed tiger, etc., have become
extinct due to drastic changes in their habitats or the climate.
