Adaptations in arboreal animals

               Animals like monkeys and

squirrels live on land but spend
most of their time on trees. Such

               animals are called arboreal
               animals.

Monkeys use their tails and long Monkey on a tree Squirrel on a tree

arms for swinging on trees. Some arboreal animals
Arboreal animals also have claws to support them while climbing. Some of them

have spines or plates to prevent slipping while climbing.

               Adaptations in aerial animals

Birds and bats fly in air. They are called aerial
animals. Birds have light, hollow and air-filled Seagull

bones which make their body light. They also have
wings with feathers to help them fly. Their bodies

are streamlined or boat-shaped which helps cut
               through the air easily. Kingfisher
                                                                                                             Bat
Bats live in old buildings or caves. They also have Aerial animals

wings to fly, but they are not birds. They are the only mammals that can fly.
