Largest and Smallest Numbers Using Given Digits
Example 16: Make the largest and smallest number using each of
the digits 2, 0, 6, 3 exactly once.
Solution: We have the digits 2, 0, 6 and 3.
First we will write the largest number.
Let us arrange them in decreasing order: 6, 3, 2 and 0
The required number is 6320.
Now let us write the smallest number.
Let us arrange the digits in increasing order: 0, 2, 3 and 6
But we cannot put 0 in the thousands place as this will
make our number a three digit number.
So, we interchange 0 and 2
0 2, 3 and 6
