From morning to night, we use different types of things. The things we

use are made of different materials. The materials may be metals, wood,
plastic, etc. Things like spoons, vehicles, etc., are made of metals.

Iron, copper, aluminium, silver and gold are metals. These metals are
derived from minerals. All rocks on the surface of the Earth have minerals.

A rock which is rich in one mineral is called
an ore of that mineral.

Minerals are generally found in those rocks
which lie below the Earth’s surface. The minerals

have to be taken out. The method used for
taking out the minerals depends upon the depth
