The boy uses

                                       to kick the football.

                                 The boy uses
                                 to stop the ball.

                                       The player uses

to hit the ball and changes its
                                       direction of motion.

Thus, we can say that a force can

 make an object to move.

          stop a moving object.

 change the direction of a moving
             object.

Now, take some coloured clay and make

it into your favourite shapes. To do so,
you actually apply force on the clay while

rolling or pressing it with your fingers. So
different shapes can be made by applying force on the clay.

Thus, a force can also change the shape of an object.

        Kinds of force

There are different types of forces.

 When we push or pull a door, hit or kick a ball or
lift something, we use muscular force.

 If an object is dropped from a height, it falls down.

This is because the Earth pulls everything down.
The force that the Earth applies on the objects, by

which they fall down, is called gravitational force
             or gravity.
