The mixing of undesirable and harmful substances in water is called water

pollution. The polluted water is dirty and is not good for health. Water is getting
polluted due to several human activities and by the wastes released by industries
into water bodies. Large

amounts of fertilisers

and pesticides used in
crop fields get washed
into nearby water

bodies with rainwater

and pollute their water.
Oil spills from ships also
pollute water. Throwing

of wastes from houses,

washing of clothes and
bathing of animals
