                    1. Ice and snow both are solid forms of water but they form differently.
                    2. Ice is frozen water while snow is small pieces of frozen water that fall from the clouds when
the temperature of clouds becomes very low.

                    3. The foggiest place in the world is the Grand Banks off the island of Newfoundland, Canada.

                 Fill in the blanks.

                   1. Ice crystals are called .

                   2. Small round balls of ice that fall from clouds are called .

                   3. Droplets of water formed on leaves on a cold morning are called .

                   4. is the water droplets that fall from the clouds.

                                                        WATER TABLE

When it rains, the rainwater flows on the surface of the earth and reaches rivers,

streams, ponds and lakes. Some rainwater goes into the porous layers of the earth
and gets collected over the non-porous layer. This water is called underground

water and its level is called water table. The water table rises during the rainy
season and drops down during the summer season.

                                                        WATER CYCLE

The change of water into water vapour from different sources and then condensing
back into liquid water is called water cycle. The water cycle continuously goes on

               in nature.
The water cycle starts when the sun’s heat evaporates water from different water

bodies. The water vapour so formed rises up, cools and changes into water droplets.

Water droplets gather to form clouds. When these water droplets become bigger
and heavier, they fall down as rain or snow or hail.

About 80% of rain falls in oceans and the rest falls on land. The water from land

surface goes into rivers and streams which in turn lead to the oceans so that the
whole cycle can start all over again.
