                                                    24-hour Clock Time

So far, we studied 12-hour clock time where we used a.m. and p.m. to show
different times. But there is an another way of writing the time. Have you

gone through the timetable of Railways or Airlines? Railways or Airlines use a
24-hour clock. In this way, time is read from 0 to 23.

In a 12-hour clock, each time comes twice but in a 24-hour clock, each time
               comes once.

Let us see time by both clocks.

                             Time 12-hour clock 24-hour clock

                  7 o’clock morning 7:00 a.m. 07:00 hours

                  6 o’clock evening 6:00 p.m. 18:00 hours

                  12 o’clock midnight 12:00 midnight 00:00 hours

                  12 o’clock noon 12:00 noon 12:00 hours

                  9:15 o’clock morning 9:15 a.m. 09:15 hours

                   Mind it!

Time in the 24-hour is always expressed using 4-digit numerals.

The 2-digit numerals on the extreme right stand for minutes.
