Adaptations in plants growing on hills and mountains

Plants growing on hills and mountains have shorter stems to avoid harsh wind

and do not get knocked down. They have needle-like leaves and bear cones
instead of flowers. These plants are conical in shape and hence are called conifers.

Plants like cedar, spruce, pine and fir grow on hills and mountains.

Adaptations in plants growing in plains

Plants growing in the plains like banyan, peepal, mango and sal are big trees
with many branches. Their leaves are big and broad. This feature helps in losing

excess water through stomata to keep them cool during summer. These trees
shed their leaves in winter and grow new leaves in the spring.
