ADDITION OF 4 DIGIT NUMBERS (WITHOUT CARRYING)

Now let us learn how to add any two 4-digit numbers without carrying.

We arrange the digits in columns of thousands, hundreds, tens and ones.

We write zero for vacant places.

Now we add numbers in each column separately.

Example 1: Add 3212 and 5676

+ 5 6 7 6

8 8 8 8

Add ones. → 2 + 6 = 8 ones.

Add tens. → 1 + 7 = 8 tens.

Add hundreds. → 2 + 6 = 8 hundreds.
Add thousands. → 3 + 5 = 8 thousands.

The sum = 8888.
