us study the geography of the Democratic Republic of the Congo which
is in Africa.

Location and Extent
The Democratic Republic of the Congo, after Sudan and Algeria, is the
third largest country in Africa. The total area is about 23.5 lakh square
kilometres. It is surrounded by Sudan and Central African Republic in
the north, Republic of Congo in the west, Angola, and Zambia in the
south, and Tanzania, Burundi, Rwanda and Uganda in the east. There
are many lakes along the eastern boundary of the DRC.
The equator passes through the northern part of the Democratic Republic
of the Congo. Thus, about one-third area lies in the Northern Hemisphere
and about two-thirds area in the Southern Hemisphere. Kinshasa is the
capital city.
