G. Using the given digits, form the greatest and the smallest numbers.
                     1. 4,2,5,0,1,6 2. 8,3,5,1,4,7,9 3. 6,0,2,8,4,3,7,1

                     4. 4,1,2,5,9,8,7,6,3 5. 4,0,9,8,5,3,6,2,7

                 H. 1. Write the smallest 8-digit number using three digits only.

                     2. Write the largest 9-digit number using different digits and the number
must have 0 at the thousands place.

                     3. Write the greatest 7-digit number using the digits 2, 5, 0 and 8. Digits

                          may be repeated.

                                                  Rounding of Numbers

Many times we don’t have or we don’t require the exact number. To get
the idea of the number we round it. This rounding may be to the nearest

tens, hundreds, thousands ten-thousands, lakhs, crores, ten crores etc.

               Rounding to the Nearest Tens.

Rule 1: If the digit in the units place is 0 or 1 or 2 or 3 or 4 (less than

                              5) then we make the units place 0.

Rule 2: If the digit in the units place is 5 or 6 or 7 or 8 or 9 (more than

or equal to 5) then we make the units place zero and add 10 to
                              the number.

Example 22: Round the following numbers to the nearest tens

                                    (a) 4378974 (b) 75286166 (c) 621652945

Solution: (a) Unit’s digit of 4378974 is 4. Clearly rule 1 is applicable.

To round the number to the nearest 10 we replace 4

                                          by 0.

Hence 4378974 rounded to the nearest tens is 4378970.

                                    (b) Unit’s digit to 75286166 is 6. Clearly rule 2 is applicable.

To round the number to the nearest 10 we replace 6

                                          by 0 and add 10.
