4. A milkman buys two cows for `56000. He sells one of them for `25000
and another for `32400. Find his total profit or loss.

                     5. A fruitseller buys 6 boxes of apples for `3000 and pays `200 for
transportation. Each box contains 5 kg apples. The fruitseller sells it
at the rate of `120 per kg. Calculate his profit or loss.

                     6. Ankit has a stationery shop. He buys a packet of 10 pencils worth `60

                          from one packet of pencils?
                     7. A trader buys 40 kg cauliflower for `1000. He sells 12 kg out of 40 kg

at the rate of `25 per kg. He has to sell remaining at the rate of `30
per kg. Calculate his profit or loss.

                     8. A flowerseller purchases 100 roses worth `5 for each rose. She makes

                                             Calculation of S.P. and C.P.

When the profit or loss and one out of the selling price and the cost price

are given, we can find the other, i.e., either cost price or selling price.

               Calculation of C.P.

When the selling price and profit are given, we subtract profit from the
selling price to find the cost price of an item.

               i.e., C.P. = S.P. – Profit

Similarly, when the selling price and loss are given, we add loss to the

selling price to calculate the cost price of an article.

               i.e., C.P. = S.P. + Loss

Example 4: A calculator was sold for `650 and the shopkeeper gained
a profit of `75. Find the cost price of the calculator.

Solution: Given, the selling price of the calculator = `650 and profit

                                   = `75

∴ Cost price = Selling price – Profit

                                                                      = `650 – `75 = `575
