P. 112
Example 27: Write the largest and the smallest number of 5 digits
using the digits 4, 2, 3, 8 and 5. Repetition of digits is
allowed.
Solution: We have the digits 4, 2, 3, 8 and 5.
First we will write the largest number.
The largest of the given digits is ‘8’, so the largest number
is 88888.
Now let us write the smallest number.
The smallest digit is ‘2’, so the smallest number is 22222.
Example 28: Write the smallest six digit number using the digits 5,
7, 0, 3, 6 and 9. Repetition of digits is allowed.
Solution: We have the digits 5, 7, 0, 3, 6 and 9. The smallest digit
is 0. But we cannot write 0 at lakhs place. So we write 3
at lakhs place and the required number is 300000.
