STEM ACTIVITY 1

Showing that air lls space
 Take a rubber balloon.
 Blow air into the balloon using your mouth.

 Observe that the balloon started to in ate and became bigger in size.

 You will realise that balloon is lled with air having mixture of gases.

 e air pressure inside the balloon pushed against the rubber walls, causing it to expand.

STEM ACTIVITY 2
Showing change of state of water (juice)
 Take a clean plastic ice-cream container.
 Fill the container with pineapple or orange juice.
 Insert an ice cream stick into the juice to serve as a handle.
 Place the container in the freezer of the refrigerator and leave it undisturbed
for several hours.
 Once frozen, remove the container and take out the avoured ice using the

stick.

 e liquid juice changes into solid ice.
STEM ACTIVITY 3
Understanding the process of evaporation
 Take a clean hanky and soak it in water completely.
 Wring out the extra water to make it damp.
 Place the wet hanky under sunlight in an open area.
 Observe the hanky a er one or two hours.

 e hanky has dried because water has evaporated from it due to the heat of the sun.
