Many words end with e. We usually drop the e at the end of the words when we add

-ing, as shown in the above examples.

Dictionary Skills • Alphabetical order

We know that all the words in a dictionary are given in alphabetical order.

Examples: 1. actor 2. day 3. sugar

When words begin with the same letter, we look at the second letter of each word
while arranging them in alphabetical order.
Examples: 1. absent 2. add 3. after

If the first and second letters of each of the words are the same, we should look at the
third letter of each word while arranging them in alphabetical order.

Examples: 1. pack 2. pal 3. pan
