thus proving that the Earth was round not flat. Later on it was proved

that the Earth was round like an orange.

If we stand on the roof of a tall building and look around, we will notice

that far away from the building, the Earth and the sky seem to meet. The
meeting place is called the horizon. This can best be experienced at the

beach. It will appear that the sky is meeting the sea. The place where a
sea or an ocean meets the land is called the coast.

 The sun and other stars, planets and moons are all heavenly bodies.

 The sun has a big family called the solar system.
 It includes the sun, the eight planets and many satellites (moons).
 Only the Earth has life on it.
 The Earth is surrounded by air and it has land and water.

 The Portuguese sailor, Magellan, went round the Earth and proved that it is round in
shape.

Heavenly bodies : The natural objects which we can see in the sky.
Solar system : The family of the sun, which has planets, satellites and other heavenly
bodies.
Satellite : A heavenly body that moves around a planet.
Horizon : The place where the Earth and the sky seem to meet.
Coast : The meeting point of the sea and the land.
