1 We Live on the Earth

Warm Up

Why is the Earth the only planet that has life on it?

You have already learnt that a day starts with the rising of the sun.

During the whole day, you see the sun
in the sky. As soon as the sun sets in
the west, evening and night come

gradually. What do we see in the sky

at night? We see the moon, stars and
other things. The sun, the moon, the
Earth, stars and other planets are called

heavenly bodies. The sun is a star, the

Earth is a planet and the moon is a
satellite. All these are heavenly bodies.
