this idea, he developed a fleaglass, which could enlarge things. It was a

popular toy in Europe.

Galileo, the famous scientist of Italy, improved the fleaglass

and called it Microscope. Today it is a very useful device in
the field of medical sciences. It is widely used for examining

urine, stool, sputum, blood and many other varieties of
cells. It helps in finding out the cause of many diseases.

Now the doctors can provide the right treatment for sick

New Machines

Nowadays, scientists and engineers have invented and developed many
types of machines which can study and draw pictures of organs inside

our body. This type of knowledge is very useful for doctors. They can
identify the diseases and can also perform major surgical operations.

The important machines are X-Ray, Ultrasound, CT scan, MRI, etc. These
machines can make a radiograph of bones and other organs inside our

body. The complex organs, such as brain, heart, liver, kidney, lung and
others can also be examined for finding out the problems. Nowadays,

laser beams are also used for surgical operations.

Surgery

When the skin of a patient is cut by a doctor to cure a problem inside
the body, it is known as surgery or operation. The doctor who conducts
the operation on a human body is called a surgeon. A large number of

instruments, machines and medicines are used in performing a surgery

or an operation.

Through surgery, it is possible to repair an organ to cure the disease.
Nowadays, doctors can replace a diseased organ with a healthy one. It

is called transplantation. In ancient India, surgery was practised by
Sushruta. Human beings can now have a healthier life due to surgery.
