Construction of a Circle
A circle is drawn with the given radius using a pair of compasses and a
pencil.
Let us draw a circle of radius 4 cm.
Steps of Construction
1. Take a pair of compasses and fix a sharpened pencil in it.
2. Open the pair of compasses and adjust the gap between metal tip of the
compasses and pencil tip of the compasses equal to the given radius,
i.e., 4 cm.

3. Place the pair of compasses on a sheet of paper and fixing the metal
tip at a certain point, rotate the pencil tip so that it traces a circle.
4. Now, join the fixed point with any
point of circumference and mark fixed
point as the centre and line segment
A
as the radius. This is the required O 4 cm
circle.
