                                                Reciprocal of a Fraction

Knowledge about the multiplicative inverse of a number or a fraction

helps us in the division of a fraction. Two fractions are said to be the
multiplicative inverse or reciprocal of each other if their product is 1.

               Consider the following multiplications:
                        1 5 × 1 5 1 1 × 8 8 4 11 44
                5 × = = = 1, × 8 = = = 1 and × = = 1
                        5 5 5 8 8 8 11 4 44

                                1 1 4 11
Thus, 5 and , and 8, and are multiplicative inverses or reciprocals
                                5 8 11 4

of each other as their product in each case is 1.

To get the multiplicative inverse of a fraction, flip its numerator and denominator
                                                      5 7 6 1 1 3
upside down. For example, , , or 3, etc.
                                                      7 5 1 6 3 1
