2 Clothes for Us

Guess which type of cloth we get from
the plant shown in the picture.
CLOTHES
The early humans lived in caves and covered their bodies with leaves, animal
skin and the bark of trees. Over a period of time, they learnt to weave the cloth
and wear it.
Why do we need clothes
Clothes are very important to us. We need clothes to cover our body. Clothes
protect our body from dust, heat, cold, rain and insect bites. Let us know how!
A single dress worn for a long time becomes dirty as the dust from the
surroundings sticks to it. Imagine where will this dust settle down, if we do
not wear clothes. Therefore, clothes protect us from dust.
The uncovered part of our body is usually darker than the covered one. It
is because exposure to the sun for longer durations, makes the skin tanned.
Thus, clothes protect us from the heat of the sun.
During winter, we wear woollen clothes. They keep us warm. Thus, clothes
protect us from cold.
In rainy season, we use raincoat and gumboots made of waterproof material.
Thus, clothes protect us from rains.
