                                                            Pronouns

               Read these sentences.

Ms Rajni spoke to the members of Lawn Tennis Club. She said that they needed to
               exercise every day.

The highlighted words are pronouns. ‘She’ is used in place of ‘Ms Rajni’ and ‘they’ is
used in place of the ‘members of Lawn Tennis Club’ (which acts as noun here).

We already know that a pronoun is a word used in place of a noun to avoid repetition.
Some other commonly used pronouns are I, you, he, it and so on.

               Personal Pronouns

               Read this sentence.
“Shoma, can you come and tidy this room?”

Here, the pronoun you is a personal pronoun (used in place of ‘Shoma’). Pronouns that
are used in place of the names of persons, things, animal or places are called personal

               pronouns.
Let us find out more about personal pronouns with examples.
