average annual rainfall in India is about 125 centimetres. The general
distribution is uneven. Normally, it decreases from south to north and
also from east to west.
The Autumn Season
The autumn season in our country begins with the end of the rainy season
and continues up to the month of November. During these months, the
southwest monsoon winds start withdrawing from the Northern Plains of
India. Thus, this season is also called the season of retreating monsoon.
During these months, the weather is changed from hot-wet to cool-dry.
The days are generally warm and nights are cool. The eastern coast of
India experiences cyclones during this season. The cycle of seasons in
India is dominated by the monsoon winds.
