Polygon: A closed shape formed with only line segments is called a polygon.
A polygon can have three or more line segments.
Measuring and Drawing Line Segment
Measuring a Line Segment
We can measure the length of a line segment using a ruler accurately.
Let us see an example.
To measure the line segment PQ, we put the ruler along it in such a way
that point P coincides with 0 mark. Now, we observe that the point Q
coincides with the mark 8 on the ruler. So, the length of the line segment
PQ is 8 cm.

We can also measure a line segment that does not have its length in
exact centimetres. Each cm on the ruler is further divided into 10 equal
divisions. Each small division is called 1 mm. So, count the small divisions
after the exact centimetre mark and write them in mm.
Let us measure the length of the line segment XY.
X Y ← Point Y coincides with 3rd division

Thus, the length of the line segment XY is 7 cm 3 mm or 7.3 cm.
