Line Segment: It has two end points and thus its length
can be measured. In the adjoining figure, P and Q are
               P PQ Q
the two end points of line segment PQ. Symbolically, it
                                       is written as PQ.

Line: When a line segment is extended endlessly in both
                                                                                                     P Q
the directions, we get a line. Here, we see a line PQ. PQ

Symbolically, it is written as PQ.

Ray: When a line segment is extended endlessly in one
P PQ Q direction, we get a ray. Here, we see ray PQ and ray QP.

P QP Q Symbolically, they are written as PQ and PQ (or QP )
                                       respectively.

Types of Line: Commonly, lines are of following types:

Horizontal Lines Vertical Lines Slant Lines

Curved Lines: The lines which are not straight are called curved lines.

Simple Closed Curve: The curve which has the same initial and final point
crossing over at any point is called a simple closed curve.

Open Curve: The curve which has different initial and end points is called
               an open curve.
