Before Veena or Suresh could say anything, Buddy wagged its tail and
jumped on Simi. Suresh smiled, “You may leave Buddy with us.”
Veena looked at the sick boy, Anand, and said, “Please go and see a
doctor. We will take care of your pet.”
They left in a hurry. Veena and Suresh were amazed to see how Simi
took care of the puppy. Veena was worried for some time. Buddy
followed her wherever she went but did not trouble her. She started
to like Buddy within hours. Simi gave some water and biscuits to the
puppy. Later, Veena gave some milk and bread, too. They all played
with Buddy.
By afternoon, the neighbours were back. Anand came with his parents.
“He is feeling much better now. Thanks for taking care of this little
one,” said Mohit as he smiled at Simi, and her parents patted Buddy.
“You are most welcome. Do let us know if your need anything,” Veena
spoke in a sweet tone.
“Sure. I hope Buddy did not trouble you,” said Sakshi.
“Oh, no. He is very friendly,” Simi replied. “I loved playing with him.”
“Thanks a lot for everything,” said Mohit. “You all are wonderful
neighbours. Now, Anand will always remember to drink clean water
and wash hands before eating food. We are lucky to have you as
neighbours.”
“Thanks. It is our pleasure. Do come again,” said Veena.
Simi and Anand became good friends. They often took Buddy for
walks and to the park also. Simi found a
