Taking Care of Environment

To take care of our environment, we should:

 plant more trees in our neighbourhood
         not use plastic bags

 throw the waste materials only in the dustbins

 not burst firecrackers during festivals

 use clean fuel like LPG (Liquefied Petroleum

Gas) in the kitchen and CNG (Compressed We should plant trees
                                                                                        wherever possible

As we do not take care of environment and check pollution, natural
disasters occur in many forms. Here are some case studies of natural

        disasters.

                                              CASE STUDIES

                                             Uttarakhand Flood

In June 2013, heavy rains caused devastating floods
and landslides in Uttarakhand, killing more than

ten thousand people. It was one of the worst natural
disasters in the country since the 2004 Indian Ocean
Tsunami. Destruction of bridges and roads left about

100,000 pilgrims and tourists trapped in the area. The
Indian Air Force, the Indian Army, and paramilitary
troops evacuated more than 1,10,000 people from the
          flood ravaged area.

Uttarakhand received heavy rainfall, which was about 375 per cent more than the benchmark
