Units of Length
We have learnt the three units of length. The unit metre (m) is the
standard unit of length. We measure the length or distance using the
metre rod and measuring tape. The unit metre is divided into 100 equal
parts. The length of each part is 1 centimetre (cm).
A metre rod
i.e., 1 m = 100 cm

or 1 cm = m = 0.01 m

Further, each centimetre is sub-divided into 10 equal parts. Each part
represents a millimetre (mm). We have a 15 cm ruler in our geometry box.

Thus, we observe 1 cm = 10 mm or 1 mm = cm = 0.1 cm

The unit kilometre (km) is the bigger unit of length. It is used to measure
large distance. It is 1000 times bigger than a metre.
i.e., 1 km = 1000 m

or 1 m = km = 0.001 km

Units of Weight
We are familiar with two units of mass—gram (g) and kilogram (kg). The
gram is used to measure small or light masses and the kilogram is used
to measure large or heavy masses. A kilogram is 1000 times bigger than
a gram.

Thus, 1 kg = 1000 g or 1 g = kg = 0.001 kg
