                                          Lattice Multiplication Algorithm

Lattice Algorithm method is a fun way to multiply two numbers. Let us have

               fun using this method.
                                                                                                          4 6
                 1. Multiply 46 × 54.
                                                                                                                       5
Draw 2 × 2 squares. Divide each square diagonally as
shown alongside. Write multiplicand, say 46, on the 4

top and multiplier, say 54, on the right side of the
                     squares. 4 6

                                                                                                        2 3 5
Now, multiply 6 by 5 and write the product as shown.
                                                                                                            0 0
Similarly, multiply other numbers and then add
                     diagonally. 1 2 4
                                                                                                            6 4
                      Thus, 46 × 54 = 2484

                                                                                              2 4 8 4
                 2. Multiply 439 by 83.

To multiply 439 × 83, let us draw 3 × 2 squares. Divide each square
diagonally. Write the multiplicand and multiplier as shown alongside. Now,

                     do the process as earlier.
                                                                                                  4 3 9
                      Thus, 439 × 83 = 36437 3 2 1 7 1 8
                                                                                                    2 4 2
Now, using this method, multiply the following:
                                                                                               1 0 2 3
                      1. 68 × 47 2 9 7

                      2. 568 × 79
                                                                                      3 6 4 3 7
                      3. 356 × 428
