ADDITION STORIES (Word Problems)
Many situations around us require adding numbers.
We may have to add the amounts mentioned in a bill for purchases made
in a market.
This helps us to check, the total is correct or not.
Addition may or may not involve regrouping (carry over).
Now we will examine a few such situations in the following examples.
Example 3: 35775 children visited a fun park in January and 52012
children visited it in February. How many children
visited the fun park in these two months?
Solution: TTh Th H T O
Number of children who visited in January 3 5 7 7 5
Number of children who visited in February + 5 2 0 1 2
8 7 7 8 7
87787 children visited the fun park in January and February.
