Do you find any pattern in the numbers of the yellow strip?
Yes, these are 1, 3, 5, 7, 9, ... These numbers are called odd numbers.

Similarly, the numbers in the pink strips are 2, 4, 6, 8, ... These numbers

are called even numbers.

Now, consider the following sums.

5 + 9 = 14 10 + 12 = 22

Odd + Odd = Even Even + Even = Even

7 + 10 = 17 20 + 13 = 33

Odd + Even = Odd Even + Odd = Odd

Check if the relation is true for other numbers.
