They go to the lady and she looks up.
“Who are you?” says Sara.
“Why are you sitting here?” says Johny. “Are you sick?”
The lady speaks softly, “I have come from another town
to look for work. I am hungry. Give me something to eat,
please.”
Sara turns to Johny and says, “Let us give her some apples.
She is hungry.”
Johny tells her, “But mother wants to bake an apple cake for
us. She needs all these apples. We should not give her any.”
“Oh! We have many apples. I think we should help,” says Sara.
"She is hungry and poor."
“But what if mother gets angry?” Johny asks her.
