someone else. It is usually about someone famous. A biography mentions several details, like:
The date and place of birth, and death also, if the person is no more.
Important facts of the person’s life, such as early life, marriage, birth of children,
career and so on.
The importance and impact of the person’s work and contributions.
Look at the sample of a biography given below.
Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj
Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj was one of the greatest kings in Indian history. He
was born in 1630 at Shivneri Fort in Maharashtra. His mother, Jijabai, was a
strong and religious woman who taught him values of courage and justice. His
father, Shahaji Bhosale, was a brave nobleman.
From a young age, Shivaji loved his land and wanted to protect his people. He gathered a
group of loyal soldiers and captured forts. He used special fighting methods like quick and
sudden attacks, called guerrilla warfare. With his bravery, he defeated stronger armies and
built a powerful kingdom.
Shivaji also cared deeply for his people. He respected women, helped farmers and treated everyone
fairly, no matter their religion. He even built a navy to protect the sea.
In 1674, he was crowned as the ‘Chhatrapati’ (King) at Raigad Fort. Shivaji Maharaj is
remembered as a wise ruler and a true hero of India.
