Rip Van Winkle is a short story by American author Washington Irving
and it was first published in 1819. It is about a Dutch-American villager
who lived in the foothills of Catskill Mountains in New York. Now, let
us read the story.
Long ago in north America lived Rip Van Winkle,
a simple, good-natured but lazy man. He was
always willing to help his neighbours and listen
to what was troubling them. Everyone in the
village liked him. He was very popular among
the villagers, and the children were specially fond
of him. He played with
Dutch a person belonging them, taught them to
to the Netherlands
willing ready fly kites and told them
long, interesting stories.
