Solution: Here, we need to find the HCF of numbers 72 and 132.
Using division method,
72 132 1
–72
60 72 1
–60
12 60 5
–60
0
Thus, HCF of 72 and 132 = 12
Hence, the maximum 12 apples can be put in each row.
Example 10: Three kinds of biscuits are bought for `8, `12 and `15
each. Find the least amount of money by which we can
buy an exact number of biscuits of each kind.
Solution: Here, we have to find the LCM of 8, 12 and 15. Using the
common division method,
∴ LCM = 2 × 2 × 3 × 2 × 5 = 120
Thus, we can buy each kind of biscuits in an exact number
worth `120.
