Adverbs

        Read the following sentences carefully.

          1. Harsh and Ani packed the food quickly.

          2. My father drives slowly.

          3. Ravi waved at the people happily.

The highlighted word quickly, slowly and happily tell us how Harsh and Ani
packed the food, how my father drives and how Ravi waved at the people. The

words that tell us how actions are done are called adverbs. Most of the words
that end with –ly tell us more about action words or verbs.

Example: 1. Ravi ate the sandwiches hungrily.

                      2. People should drive carefully.
