Nowadays we use standard unit of time which is the same all over the world.

Standard unit of time is second (sec.)

 60 seconds make a minute.

 60 minutes make an hour.

 24 hours make a day.

 7 days make a week.
Clocks

The clock tells us the time.

The face of the clock is marked with numbers 1 to 12.

The clock has two hands.

The short hand shows the hour. It is also called the
hour hand.

The long hand shows the minutes.

The long hand is at 12.

The short hand is at 4.

The time is 4 o'clock.
This is also written as 4:00
