Addition Stories

Many situations around us involve addition of numbers. Such situations
are called addition stories. Let us observe the following situation.

262 people were sitting in a hall. 131 more join them. How many

people are there in the hall now?

Number of people in the hall = 2 6 2

Number of people who joined them = + 1 3 1
Total number of people in the hall now = 3 9 3
